Specifics about the NGO

 Specific Details About our NGO

  1. Specifically promote to kids

As mentioned in the survey results, there’s a generational gap between our generation and our parents’ and I think we are more open to new ideas. The kids are the next generation of the government and educating them is essential to making change.

  1. Utilize social media

The now is the internet and we need to promote ourselves through social media or else we will fall off quickly. Promotion, relation building and monetization through websites such as youtube, tiktok, twitter and instagram will grow our NGO. It will also relate to kids and the younger generation who are more keen on social issues as I mentioned.

  1. Focus on education

There are many LGBT NGOs in Japan but hardly any focus on educating compulsory education kids. The fact of the matter is the majority of LGBT people start to develop their understanding of their sexual orientations at ages 10-14. That’s elementary to jr high school. The youth are the next generation of policy makers so it's important to focus on their education.

     4. Fundraising

Firstly, social media. Youtube ad incentives per video won’t be much help at first but if we can manage to grow our channel, we might be able to get a bit of money.
Other things we will be doing is holding fundraising events such as book readings and movie screenings. These books and movies will be focused on LGBT and it’ll be a fun way to invite kids but also to create a supportive environment.
Finally we will be enabling direct donations through our website or have go fund me’s.

     5. NGOs to work with

We would like to work with education and LGBT related NGOs. Organizations we would be able to work with are Stonewall Japan, which is an LGBT related community group. Rebit, a LGBT related NPO and Teach for Japan, an education related NPO. I think having organizations based on both LGBT and in education is important for our NGO. All three of these organizations had great websites, which we researched about a while back.

Comments

  1. I liked that I could tell how passionate the writer feels about this topic. This NGO targets the future kids who are going to be the next leaders. I strongly agree that education in Japan is very off. Therefore, focusing on education is a great idea. On top of that, you wrote three different existing LGBT-related NGOs which focus on education so that's very helpful. I also liked how simple and easy it was to look at this blog. The key points are mainly bolded and your answers are all about the same lengths. It’s not necessary but adding images might have helped with the overall image of the page.

  2. Your proposed NGO genuinely attempts to fill a niche not represented by other NGOs as your focus is on educating kids in compulsory education. Other local NGOs or organizations that would seem natural to either pair with or to be informed by include:

    Shibuya Gender Equality Diversity Center
    https://www.city.shibuya.tokyo.jp.e.mu.hp.transer.com/shisetsu/bunka/oowada/iris.html

    Pride House Tokyo
    https://pridehouse.jp/

It was significant to note the generation gap in the understanding and acceptance of LGBTQi people and issues that your survey data showed. As we now see in America, without education, gains in public perceptions and understanding can be undermined by political agendas (culture war nonsense) and we can't assume that one generation's accepting views will automatically be transferred to the next generation without inclusive educational strategies.
